Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally

  1.  International Step By Step Association. (n.d.)
ISSA promotes equal access to quality education and care for all children, especially in the early years of their lives (ISSA, n. d.). This organization appeals to me because I believe there should be equality in care and education for all children regardless of their economic status, race, cultural background, or immigration status Within its network, ISSA supports a wide array of programs that collectively provide a comprehensive set of educational services and advocacy tools intended to influence policy reform for families and children, with a special focus on the years from birth through primary school (ISAA, n. d.).
There are no job posting/opportunities however individuals can join the organization and become members

11. Save the Children. (2011).   Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. Recognized for our commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, our work takes us into the heart of communities, where we help children and families help themselves (Save the Children, 2011). This organization appeals to me because what they do is part of my role as early childhood educator. Children have rights and to be safe, protected and developed are only a section of their rights.
  • Job /Career opportunities:
The job that interests me most is the Emergency Child Protection Adviser
Individuals should be able to Assess, design and guide staff to initiate interventions to address violations of children’s rights to protection from abuse, exploitation, violence and neglect.

    111United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). (n.d.).
UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. They believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress (UNICEF, n. d.). This organization is protecting children’s rights and we have the opportunities to make sure children and families understand those rights especially those related to equality and social justice.
Job Opportunities: There are numerous job opportunities none of interest.

  1. Hi Theresa. I chose the same three organizations to learn and write about. The only one I had not previously heard of and been involved with was the Step by Step Association. It seemed like a great organization to me and I wished the fee to join was a little less expensive so that I could be a part of it.

  2. Theresa,

I found it very interesting that many of the organizations I looked at didn't have any job opportunities. As we are completing our Master's Degree it is somewhat frightening because of the lack of jobs available. I really pray that things change soon.

  3. Theresa,
After being working with children and families for many years I believe that we all could like continue the same in a different arena. I also picked UNICEF and Save the Children but they have work in many different countries in the world. I did like that.
    Thank you for sharing!!

  4. Theresa,
Like you I picked the Save the Children organization because of its overall goal which is to "help children and families help themselves” (Save the Children, 2011). As educators it is our desire to help children and families so that we can have a lasting impact on their overall development. There are not many job opportunities available that coincide with out with of study; however we can still contribute the organization. Educators like ourselves are the voiced for young children as we are willing to do whatever it takes to shape the lives of children so that they can become productive citizens in today's society.

  5. Hi Theresa,
From exploring these many websites one of the positives is that there is support for what we do. We do not have to try to invent the wheel what we need to do is to sensitize each other of the support mechanism available and where possible become members of one or two of these organizations so we can remain on the cutting edge of early childhood issues and the measures that are be employed to assist children, families, teachers and the field of early childhood.
